The first bill signed into law by newly appointed Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn clarifies exemption and enforcement components of the state's Smoke Free Illinois Act, which, since last year, has banned smoking in most indoor public places, including bars, restaurants and workplaces. Senate Bill 2757 strengthens the act by adding guidelines for writing citations and more information on contesting citations. “We must continue to make sure the residents of the Land of Lincoln can breathe fresh air while they are at work and in public places,” Quinn said in a statement.
